The 16th of September Marks the United Nations International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer
The Ozone Layer is our planet’s shield that protects all living organisms from the harmful ultraviolet radiation of the sun. Its preservation is vital for human health, biodiversity, and the environment.
Forty years ago, nations came together under the Vienna Convention, committing to take decisive measures to protect the Ozone Layer—the Earth’s only shield against the Sun’s harmful ultraviolet radiation.

The Swearing-In Ceremony of the Minister of Environment Hambardzum Matevosyan Took Place at the Presidential Palace in the Presence of the President of the Republic of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan and the Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan
The Minister, reading the text of the oath, stated:
"For the sake of implementation of the pan-national goals and strengthening of the homeland, I swear to fulfil my obligations before the people in good faith, observe the Constitution and laws of the Republic of Armenia, contribute to maintenance of the sovereignty and interests of the Republic of Armenia, remain loyal to the high title of member of the Government.”

Minister Hambardzum Matevosyan Hosted the Executive Director of the Armenian Assembly of America, Board of Trustees Members, as well as the Executive Director of the Armenia Tree Project at the Ministry
During the meeting, the parties discussed the organizational and preparatory work for the 17th Conference of the Parties (COP17) to the Convention on Biological Diversity, to be held in Armenia in 2026. The Minister emphasized that this event of global significance represents a unique opportunity for Armenia to become a hub for international discussions on biodiversity conservation.
