As part of the preparations for the COP17, a working meeting with representatives of air transport companies was held at the Ministry of Environment of the RA. Vahe Davtyan, Deputy Minister of Environment of the RA; Nader Ibrahim, Representative of the Secretariat of the UN Convention on Biological Diversity, who is in Armenia as part of regular visit to monitor the preparatory work; Mihran Khachatryan, Chairman of the Civil Aviation Committee; and representatives of approximately two dozen air transport companies.

The Minister expressed gratitude to the German government for its continued support to the environmental sector, emphasizing that such assistance makes a significant contribution to the development of Armenia’s environmental policy.

The Ozone Layer is our planet’s shield that protects all living organisms from the harmful ultraviolet radiation of the sun. Its preservation is vital for human health, biodiversity, and the environment. Forty years ago, nations came together under the Vienna Convention, committing to take decisive measures to protect the Ozone Layer—the Earth’s only shield against the Sun’s harmful ultraviolet radiation.
