The meeting focused on preparations for the COP17, which will be held in Armenia in 2026.

Agreement on the Provision of the "Economic and Social Development" Grant Through an Exchange of Letters Between the Republic of Armenia and Japan Was Signed
Hambardzum Matevosyan, Minister of Environment of the RA, and Aoki Yutaka, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Republic of Armenia today signed the Agreement on the Provision of the “Economic and Social Development” Grant through an Exchange of Letters between the Republic of Armenia and Japan.

Agreement Signed for Armenia to Host the Meetings of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity, the Conference of the Parties to the Cartagena Protocol, and the Nagoya Protocol
Within the framework of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, the Government of the Republic of Armenia, represented by Hambardzum Matevosyan, Minister of Environment of the RA, and the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity, represented by Astrid Schomaker, Executive Secretary of the Convention, signed an agreement under which Armenia will host the Seventeenth Meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity, the Twentieth Meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Cartagena Protocol, and the Sixth Meeting of the Parties to the Nagoya Protocol, to be held from 18 to 30 October 2026.

Recently, during one of the international conferences, a claim was made that the air quality in Yerevan is the worst in the South Caucasus
In the Republic of Armenia, air quality monitoring is conducted by the Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center of the Ministry of Environment. According to official data, occasional exceedances of permissible concentrations particularly for dust and nitrogen dioxide are observed in Yerevan; however, these do not indicate continuous or severe pollution.
