The meeting of the coordinating board of the "Environmental Protection of Lake Sevan" (EU4Sevan) project was held

On July 12, the 5th "Coordinating Council meeting" of the "Environmental Protection of Lake Sevan" (EU4Sevan) project was held, which was attended by the Deputy Minister of Environment Aram Meimaryan, the head of the cooperation department of the EU delegation in Armenia Frank Hess, the Armenian office of the Armenian Association director Madeleine Rauschenberger, UNDP permanent representative in Armenia Natia Natsvlishvili, EU4Sevan project manager Christian Henschel, EU4Sevan project UNDP component coordinator Astghik Danielyan, UNDP climate, environment, sustainability team leader Hovhannes Ghazaryan, representatives from the RA Ministries of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure and RA Economy, as well as members of the project implementation team.

The delegation headed by Parliamentary State Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research of the Federal Republic of Germany Jens Brandenburg the meeting with partners of SEVAMOD2 project took place on Lake Sevan
The primary objective of the meeting was to familiarize the delegation with the environmental issues in Lake Sevan and to present selected outcomes of the project as an example for intense German-Armenian research collaboration. SEVAMOD2 project was financed by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research. Also potential research topics and modes of Armenian-German cooperation were discussed. Both sides agreed that the bilateral cooperation were extremely successful and of mutual benefit. The delegation encouraged the team to proceed this good collaboration between the two countries in order to address the challenges faced by Lake Sevan and its surrounding environment.

It is planned to create 4 new public beaches in the coastal areas of Sevan
At the session of the Government of the Republic of Armenia, Minister of Environment Hakob Simidyan presented the draft of the relevant decision of the Government, by which it is planned to create 4 new public beaches in the coastal areas of Sevan, adjacent to Lchap, Shoghakat, Gavar and Martuni communities.
