Joint activities during the whitefish spawning period in Lake Sevan started on December 1, 2022, they will last until January 20, 2023 inclusive.
A strict ban has been imposed in Lake Sevan since December 15.

EU4Sevan achievements were summarized in the Gegharkunik region and further steps of cooperation were discussed with the local government representatives
On December 2, the Gegharkunik regional administration, regional local government representatives and the leaders of enlarged communities discussed the currently implemented activities and already recorded results within the framework of the EU4Sevan project. Further cooperation based on these activities were discussed with a view of replicating these throughout the Lake Sevan Basin.

The ban on the export of whitefish caviar from the territory of Armenia will be imposed for a period of six months
Based on the requirements of food security of the Republic of Armenia, sustainable use of biological resources in Lake Sevan and conservation of biodiversity, the Ministry of Environment proposes to establish a ban on the export of whitefish caviar from the territory of Armenia for a period of six months.
