Minister Hambardzum Matevosyan Met with the Leadership Team of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF)

Minister Hambardzum Matevosyan met with the leadership team of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), which included high-ranking representatives from both international and regional offices.
During the meeting, the parties discussed bilateral cooperation projects and issues of mutual interest, exploring potential approaches to address them. Discussions also covered the status of ongoing cooperative initiatives and Armenia's strategic positioning in the context of hosting the 17th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD COP 17).
The meeting focused on the significance of the COP17 as a platform to showcase Armenia to the international community, as well as to present the country's progress in environmental policy, legislation, and strategy. The conference was recognized as a unique opportunity to present the country's environmental agenda at a high level and to expand international cooperation.
The experience and potential of WWF were discussed in terms of involving it in the organizational work of the conference, as well as implementing joint measures, ensuring the participation of international partners, and deepening cooperation in the environmental sector.
Special attention was paid to the draft resolution "On the Approval of the National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan of Armenia", which should serve as  the cornerstone of state policy in the field of biodiversity conservation in the forthcoming years.
The meeting also included a review of WWF's previously implemented projects. Particular focus was given to the “Reintroduction of the Red Deer to Armenia” project and the prospects for establishing and developing ecological corridors.
In conclusion, the Minister expressed his profound appreciation to the WWF delegation for their unwavering dedication to protecting Armenia's nature, invaluable professional expertise and the years of continious and effective cooperation.
He expressed confidence that the joint efforts and close partnership of the parties will contribute not only to the high-level organization of the COP17, but also to the consistent and successful implementation of Armenia's long-term environmental agenda.
