A workshop on the revision of the Law of the Republic of Armenia on Atmospheric Air Protection was held under the chairmanship of the Ministry of Environment of the RA within the framework of the EU4Green Recovery East programme.
The representatives of the Ministry of Environment of the RA, the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of the RA, the Ministry of Health of the RA, the Nature Protection and Mining Inspection Body of the RA, as well as the Yerevan Municipality attended the workshop.
During the discussions, existing gaps in the Law on Atmospheric Air Protection were examined in the context of the requirements of Directive (EU) 2024/2881 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 23 October 2024 on ambient air quality and cleaner air for Europe, as well as Armenia’s commitments under the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA) with the European Union.
Issues related to conceptual amendments to the legislation on ambient air quality were also discussed, with the aim of enhancing the effectiveness of legal regulation and contributing to improved air quality.
The workshop served as an important platform for the exchange of views among the relevant stakeholders and for identifying directions for further cooperation to ensure a more comprehensive and harmonized law revision process.
