The national workshop of the "Promoting Green Deal Readiness in the Eastern Partnership Countries" (PROGRESS) project and the launch event of the “Decarbonisation and Climate Resilience in the Eastern Partnership” (EU4ClimateResilience) project took place. Tigran Gabrielyan, Deputy Minister of Environment of the RA, participated in the event.
The purpose of the event was to announce the launch of the project components and activities and to present next steps to the partners.
The "Promoting Green Deal Readiness in the Eastern Partnership Countries" (PROGRESS) project is co-financed by the International Climate Initiative (IKI) of the German Government and implemented by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the Regional Environmental Center, the European Business Association (Moldova) the Institute for Economics and Forecasting of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
The project supports the countries of the Eastern Partnership in their transition to climate-friendly economic development. It aims to improve the conditions for the transformation of EU trade-related agricultural and industrial value chains.
The Deputy Minister made a speech, in which he specifically stated:
"I sincerely hope that the launched project will complement and contribute to the implementation of projects and measures approved by strategic documents in Armenia, expanding and promoting energy security, as well as contribute to increasing the adaptive capacity of our country to face the consequences of climate change."
The PROGRESS supports the implementation of more sustainable production models in various agricultural value chains in partner countries. It includes support to improve the conditions of the institutional framework, as well as the implementation of measures in the related agro-industrial and financial sectors.
The “Decarbonisation and Climate Resilience in the Eastern Partnership” (EU4ClimateResilience) project is co-financed by the European Union and the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nuclear Safety, and Consumer Protection (BMUV), and is implemented by GIZ and OECD. It is part of the "Promoting Green Deal Readiness in the Eastern Partnership Countries" (PROGRESS) project. This complementarity expresses the Team Europe approach.
The project supports Eastern Partnership countries to improve their climate change and adaptation policies and achieve adaptation and mitigation goals under the Paris Agreement.
