Workshop Discussion: ArmSwissBank’s Accreditation by the Green Climate Fund and Its Opportunities

On February 18, 2025, during the 41st annual Green Climate Fund (GCF) Board meeting held in South Korea, ArmSwissBank CJSC received accreditation, becoming the first and only private entity in the Republic of Armenia to be accredited by the GCF.
Nominated by Armenia’s state-authorized body, the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Armenia, ArmSwissBank CJSC has been undergoing the accreditation process with the Green Climate Fund since 2020.
Today, a workshop-discussion entitled "ArmSwissBank's Accreditation by the Green Climate Fund and Its Opportunities" was held. Representatives from state departments, the private sector, and financial institutions participated in the workshop.
Aram Meymaryan, Deputy Minister of Environment of the RA and Armen Yesoyan, Director of the “Environmental Project Implementation Unit” SA, also participated in the event.
The Deputy Minister delivered a speech, discussing the accreditation process of ArmSwissBank CJSC, the opportunities this significant event brings for the country in the combat against climate change, and its role in advancing sustainable development.
This achievement highlights the bank's commitment to green financing and sustainable investments, marking a historic milestone in the involvement of Armenia's private sector in the combat against climate change.
The Deputy Minister noted, “We have a financial structure in Armenia with direct access to the Green Climate Fund. With the fund’s resources, projects can be implemented through collaboration between the state and private sectors, which will help the Republic of Armenia adapt to climate change and fulfill its commitments to reduce low-carbon emissions.” He also added that as a result of such efforts, Armenia is becoming increasingly involved in the global green agenda.
The Deputy Minister urged partnerships and investments in Armenia’s transition to a green economy: “Through partnerships, strategic and financially effective mechanisms, we can transform this accreditation into a real and long-term change for our country.”
