The main problems in the water sector and the proposed conceptual approaches for developing a comprehensive strategy for the sector were discussed.
During the two-day workshop, experts from the USAID-funded "Improving Armenia's Water Resources Management" project presented and discussed the proposed conceptual approaches for developing a water sector strategy and the brief content of the strategy with the representatives of beneficiary state agencies.
The aim of the workshop was to support the ongoing process of developing Armenia's water sector strategy by identifying, analysing, and discussing the challenges and issues in the sector regarding water resources and their management.
Speaking about the project, Aram Meymaryan, Deputy Minister of Environment of the RA, emphasized the importance of a comprehensive strategy for the sector for sustainable management of the water sector and the protection of water resources, at the same time considering it necessary to inventory existing problems and organize coherent and complementary work between different departments to address them.
Representatives of the Ministry of Environment, the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, the Ministry of Health, the National Assembly, the Statistical Committee and the Public Services Regulatory Commission of the RA participated in the event.
