Aram Meymaryan, Deputy Minister of Environment Is on a Working Visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt

From October 3 to 10, the Deputy Minister participated in the “Fourth global dialogue and investment-focused event under the Sharm el-Sheikh mitigation ambition and implementation” work programme, in the “Second Workshop in 2024 under the Sharm el-Sheikh Dialogue on the scope of Article 2, paragraph 1(c), and its complementarity with Article 9 of the Paris Agreement” and in the “Workshop under the UAE–Belém” work programme on indicators of global climate change adaptation goals. 
Within the framework of the “Fourth global dialogue and investment-focused event under the Sharm el-Sheikh mitigation ambition and implementation” work programme, a meeting of the Investment Project Financing Network was held. The latter enables countries to share their project ideas with investors, financial institutions and other policy makers, with the aim of facilitating the development and implementation of investment program proposals.
Aram Meymaryan, Deputy Minister of Environment presented the idea of ​​an investment programme for the development of agrovoltaics in Armenia, which addresses the obstacles to the development of the sector, in particular, the competition for land use between agriculture and photovoltaics, with the aim of facilitating Armenia's transition to development with low greenhouse gas emissions.
The programme concept includes:
• Improvement of the policy and normative-legal framework to ensure the possibility of using agrivoltaic technologies,
• Construction of a solar agrivoltaic plant (with a capacity of 4 MWh),
• Ensuring energy security and reliability through the construction of the battery energy storage system and the connection of the battery energy storage system (with a capacity of 5 MWh)
• Capacity building at the national and community levels,
• In the context of low-carbon energy production and stabilization of micro-grids,
• Organization of climate change awareness and agrivoltaic technology application system promotion workshops for decision makers, local and community representatives, as well as development and distribution of informational materials to be disseminated through mass media/social networks in order to raise public awareness.
