On May 16, the second public discussion on the draft National Report on the implementation of the Aarhus Convention was held. Non-governmental organizations and representatives from various government departments participated in the discussion.
The content of the report was discussed in line with its main thematic directions. The Environmental Protection and Mining Inspection Body of the RA proposed recommended that the report also include the activities it has carried out to enhance public awareness. The existence of Aarhus Centers was emphasized as an important mechanism for promoting environmental awareness. A representative of the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure particularly underlined the role of Aarhus Centers at the community level, highlighting their contribution to enhancing environmental education, increasing public awareness, and encouraging public participation
It was noted that the deadline for submitting recommendations on the Report is May 21, which is six months prior to the meeting of the Parties to the Convention. Emphasis was placed on cooperation between government departments and non-governmental organizations, both in the implementation of the Convention and in ensuring accountability.
