The First National Conference on Electric Mobility Took Place

On April 18-19, 2025, with funding from the Global Environment Facility, the “Environmental Project Implementation Unit” SA of the Ministry of Environment of the RA, within the framework of the "Transition Towards Electric Mobility in Armenia" grant programme, participated in the first national conference on electric mobility, which took place at the "Meridian" Expo Center.
The goal of the conference was to create a platform for cooperation aimed at:
Supporting the development of the electric mobility sector in Armenia,
Enhancing Armenia's international visibility,
Promoting the attraction of foreign investments,
Fostering bilateral and multilateral cooperation.
Representatives from international and local organizations across various sectors, including automotive, charging stations, energy, automotive maintenance, insurance, finance, government, and education attended the event. In his speech, Ara Mkrtchyan, Deputy Minister of Environment of the RA, emphasized:
“This conference serves as a unique platform for bringing together local and international industry leaders to collaboratively develop Armenia’s roadmap for a smooth transition to electric mobility. Today, electric mobility should be viewed not just as a technological choice, but also as a political, economic, and environmental starting point. It presents an opportunity to boost local production, foster a new investment climate, create jobs, and reduce carbon emissions."
He also emphasized the need to develop waste management systems, particularly in the area of battery recycling, stressing the importance of implementing solutions that are both sustainable and aligned with European standards.
The conference was organized as a series of panel discussions, during which strategic directions and policy tools for the development of electric mobility at the national level were presented.
As part of the event, memorandums of cooperation were signed: one between the Ministry of Environment of the RA and the Armenian State University of Economics, and another between the “Environmental Project Implementation Unit” SA and the “Women in Climate and Energy” NGO.
