From August 8 to 9, 2024, on the initiative of "Reserve Park Complex" SNCO of the Ministry of Environment, representatives of the tourism sector made an introductory visit to "Soranner" Arboretum located in Berd Town and "Zikatar" State Reserve to learn about the biodiversity of the reserve, the history of the groves and the features of local nature.
The purpose of the visit was the assessment of ecotourism prerequisites and the use of available resources.
The participants of the visit, accompanied by Levon Ter-Simonyan, Director of "Reserve Park Complex" SNCO, visited the nursery of the arboretum, got acquainted with the tree species planted there, discussed improvement works and potential of the arboretum. Afterwards, the participants planted thuja bush cuttings.
A walking tour was conducted under the guidance of a forester of "Zikatar" State Reserve. Within the scope of the walking tour, the participants were introduced to the vegetation of the reserve and the history of the groves.
In the discussion hall of the visitor center of "Zikatar" State Reserve, the employees presented information about the areas operating under the SNCO, after which the representatives of the sector discussed the potential of ecotourism development in "Soranner" Arboretum located in Berd Town and "Zikatar" State Reserve and came up with proposals.
The event came to an end with nominal planting of eco-pens in the corresponding seed cups, which is one of the traditions of the SNCO.
