On the initiative of the Ministry of Environment, under the leadership of Minister Hakob Simidyan, a public discussion on the draft law "On Environmental Protection Service of the Republic of Armenia" was held at the Aarhus office in Yerevan.
The discussion was attended by Deputy Minister Aram Meymaryan, Chairman of the Forestry Committee Vladimir Kirakosyan, Director of the "Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center" SNCO Levon Azizyan, heads of professional departments of the Ministry and the Committee, individuals dealing with environmental protection issues, representatives of environmental, non-governmental organizations and initiative groups.
Welcoming the discussion participants, Minister Hakob Simidyan first referred to the purpose of initiating the discussion in the Aarhus center.
"In the context of the legal status of the Aarhus centers, possible restarting and making their activities more targeted and continuous, I highly value the circumstance of organizing this discussion right here and I expect a discussion of interesting and effective proposals and ideas. I am sure that as a result of the exchange of constructive ideas, we will get something inclusive and comprehensive. document, but we will clearly outline our expectations from the draft law," the minister noted.
Chairman of the Forestry Committee Vladimir Kirakosyan and General Secretary Lusine Aleksanyan presented the project, which was followed by an active survey.
With the establishment of environmental protection, it is planned to carry out a reform in the field of environmental and forest protection, which envisages the implementation of 6 SNCOs managing the specially protected areas of nature ("Khosrov Forest" State Reserve, "Zangezur" biosphere complex, "Park Complex", " "Arpi Lake" National Park", "Dilijan" National Park", "Sevan" National Park") and the Forestry Committee "Hayantar" SNCO, through a joint management of the posts of conservation officers through a common service, which will ensure continuous control of the areas and contribute to the timeliness of violation cases. detection and prevention.
The creation of a new type of environmental protection service as a state service is very necessary in order to properly implement protection in specially protected areas of nature, forests and forest lands.
