At the invitation of the President, the delegation led by Ara Mkrtchyan, Deputy Minister of Environment of the RA participated in the sixteenth session of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP 16) in the Republic of Colombia.
Within the framework of COP16, Ara Mkrtchyan participated in the meeting of high-ranking representatives of the parties, where he made a speech.
"The Conference of the Parties is important in terms of decision-making, particularly in terms of implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, financing, biodiversity and climate change, harmonious coexistence with nature. We believe that all countries, organizations and decision-making bodies should focus their efforts on the implementation of the goals and targets of the Global Framework, demonstrating participatory approaches and ensuring that all initiatives are accompanied by meaningful stakeholder involvement."
In his speech, Ara Mkrtchyan also noted that countries should assume political responsibility and will to review their policies, make decisions regarding the generation of all financial resources and implement resource mobilization at all levels: national, regional, global.
"Once again highlighting the conference of the parties and the decisions made within its framework, I call for a cooperative approach," concluded Ara Mkrtchyan.
