Minister Hakob Simidyan met Mr. Don Lambert, Director of the Permanent Mission of the Asian Development Bank in Armenia

Welcoming his colleagues, the Minister of Environment first congratulated Mr. Lambert on his appointment and expressed hope that during his term of office, effective steps will be taken to improve the management of the environment sector.
Mr. Lambert thanked for the meeting and noted that the RA Government's climate agenda and the issues on that agenda almost completely coincide with the Asian Development Bank's strategic plan, which is currently being developed.
It should be noted that at the moment the following programs are being implemented by ADB in the field of environmental protection:
Armenia: sustainable development of Lake Sevan. A strategic spatial planning approach
Supporting decision-making to develop climate resilience in Asia and the Pacific
Establishing monitoring and measurement mechanisms to report on commitments under the Paris Agreement
Support for improving hazardous waste management in Armenia.
During the meeting, the minister presented the priorities of the Ministry of Environment at the moment and specifically addressed the problem of strengthening and modernizing monitoring capabilities.
The minister spoke about the started process of development of the environmental strategy, the steps aimed at the effective management of water resources and atmospheric air quality control in the republic, and in that context also emphasized the availability of accurate monitoring data and timely studies.
At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed readiness to deepen cooperation in possible directions.
