Hambardzum Matevosyan, Minister of Environment of the RA, met with members of the American Chamber of Commerce in Armenia (AmCham).
During the meeting, Elina Markaryan, President of AmCham Armenia, presented the main areas of the organization’s activities, emphasizing the Chamber’s commitment to continue serving as a bridge between the Government and the business community.
The parties discussed opportunities and avenues for cooperation between the public and private sectors in the environmental field. Special attention was paid to the introduction of the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) system in Armenia, aimed at promoting private sector engagement and fostering constructive dialogue in this important environmental process.
Minister Matevosyan presented the ongoing preparatory work for the 17th Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17), underscoring the importance of the participation of the private sector and civil society.
The meeting also addressed the prospects for implementing joint initiatives and expanding cooperation within the framework of the upcoming conference.
