Meetings and discussions were held on strategic issues related to the management of the Lake Sevan ecosystem

Ahead of the summit entitled "The Future of Lake Sevan", meetings and discussions were held on strategic issues related to the management of Sevan ecosystem.
Discussions on strategic topics ahead of the "Future of Lake Sevan" summit to be held at the American University of Armenia on June 28, 2024 pave the way for collaborative actions and innovative solutions to improve management of the Lake Sevan ecosystem.
The "Future of Lake Sevan" summit is an important event, the purpose of which is to create a platform for discussing the strategic issues aimed at the protection of Lake Sevan and the opportunities and necessary steps for the preservation of the ecosystem of the lake.
The strategic meetings and discussions brought together experts of the industry, policymakers, academics and stakeholders to exchange ideas, share solutions and lay the groundwork for actionable programs. Based on the results of the meetings, strategic proposals will be formulated, which will be presented at the summit to be held on June 28.
The meetings covered four main topics, which are:
- Wastewater management to reduce the inflow of pollutants into Lake Sevan,
- Sustainable agriculture aimed at protecting water resources,
- Water monitoring and environmental data management for informed decision-making,
- Improvement of legislative-institutional frameworks and interdepartmental cooperation for effective management of the Lake Sevan ecosystem.
Each such meeting brings us closer to the expected event of June 28, creating together the vision of a sustainable future of Lake Sevan.

The summit entitled "The Future of Lake Sevan" is hosted by the Ministry of Environment of the RA within the framework of the EU4Sevan project. The co-organizer of the summit is the Acopian Center for the Environment of the American University of Armenia (AUA).
The EU4Sevan project is co-financed by the European Union (EU) and the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of the Federal Republic of Germany, which is implemented by the GIZ and UNDP.
