The First Meeting of the Aarhus Center Council for 2025 Was Held

The meeting's agenda included the discussion and approval of the Aarhus Center's annual work plan for 2025.
During the discussion, it was emphasized that the center's activities should contribute to the implementation of the provisions of the Aarhus Convention in Armenia.
The program developed by the Council includes a number of measures aimed at ensuring the involvement of various groups of society in discussions and decision-making processes on environmental issues.
In particular, the work program includes measures that promote access to environmental information, organization of public discussions, publicization of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) processes, dissemination of information on the implementation of relevant regulatory legal acts and international conventions.
The Council approved the work plan, highlighting some additions related to biodiversity conservation and the inclusion of waste management issues.
The expansion of the role of the center and the involvement of a wider range of stakeholders through the use of online tools were emphasized. The possibilities of reopening Aarhus centers in the regions of Armenia were also discussed, which is an important issue for raising awareness of environmental issues and boosting local-level involvement.
The Aarhus Center Council operates under the authority of the Minister of Environment of the RA and includes two representatives from state bodies and three representatives from non-governmental organizations. Through this structure, the Center ensures the connection between the Government and society, providing a platform for open discussions on environmental issues.
This meeting once again highlighted the importance of the Aarhus Center as an intermediary between the state and society, ensuring the free flow of information and encouraging public involvement in addressing environmental issues.
