According to the observations carried out by the "Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center" SNCO of the Ministry of Environment, the amount of precipitation observed in July of this year exceeded the norm for the given month by more than 190%.
The average amount of precipitation observed in July in Armenia was 84,4 mm, which is the seventh largest since 1935 and the most since July 1965.
Rains were observed on all ten days of the month.
The amount of precipitation was relatively scarce in the second ten days of July, and the third ten days were the heaviest.
Air temperature in July was normal, with slight positive deviations. The monthly amount of precipitation was higher than the norm in the most of the territory of the RA, and the monthly amount of precipitation in Ararat Valley, Tavush and Gegharkunik Regions exceeded the norm in some places by 2-3 times. On separate days, heavy rains were observed in Tavush, Lori and Kotayk Regions and 30-44 mm of rain was observed within a few hours.
Despite the rainy July of this year, the analysis of the amount of precipitation over many years (1935-2024) shows that precipitation decreases in Armenia during the summer season, including July.
