January 26 is World Environmental Education Day

January 26 is celebrated worldwide as the World Day of Environmental Education. In accordance with the advice of the day, at the initiative of the Ministry of Environment, a regular eco-educational event dedicated to the ecosystem of Lake Sevan took place in the State Museum of Nature of Armenia.
Pupils, students, teachers from different regions of Armenia participated in the organized eco-educational event to discover the ecosystem and biodiversity of Lake Sevan, which is strategically important for Armenia.
Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor Samvel Pipoyan and Chief Specialist of the Special Nature Protected Areas and Biodiversity Policy Department of the Ministry of Environment, Hakob Matevosyan, presented the role and importance of Lake Sevan for the Republic of Armenia, its environmental features, biodiversity, talked about the measures taken by the Government to protect the lake's biodiversity, as well as from the steps to solve the problems of the lake.
Doctor of biological sciences, professor Samvel Pipoyan spoke about the fish species of Lake Sevan, in particular, giving a historical overview of the endemic fish species of Sevan trout.
The participants of the event had the opportunity to ask the speakers their questions.
