Stressing the importance of broad involvement of public initiatives and citizens in improving the state of the environment, Minister Hakob Simidyan today received the co-founder of the public initiative "Green Green" Aram Kosyan and the co-founder of the initiatives "throwing out garbage is a shame" and "cleaning up" Hakob Mikoyan.
A military specialist, radio engineer Hakob Mikoyan has been engaged in voluntary garbage collection in various communities of Armenia for many years, organizing and coordinating cleaning work.
Aram Kosyan, who returned to Armenia in 2021 for the purpose of volunteering and permanently resides in his homeland, cleans every Sunday together with foreign volunteers in some corner of Armenia, plants trees and takes care of animals.
The Minister thanked for the patriotic and grateful activity and expressed readiness, firstly, to personally participate in volunteer initiatives and clean-up work, then in the processes to ensure more institutional and coordinated cooperation between the state-agency-public sector.
"Vicious phenomena in our environment and superficial perception of the environment are the result of a low level or lack of environmental knowledge and culture in general. The only solution to this problem is a gradual increase in civic consciousness and the development of a new model of behavior of individuals, groups of people and the whole society in relation to the environment. Through your activities, you serve as an example of how to love nature, the environment and the motherland in general, for which I express my deep gratitude to you and every volunteer who joined your events.", -the Minister noted.
During the meeting, the Minister was presented with the activities of initiatives, recorded results, problems, as well as planned activities.
The Minister asked the partners to cooperate with organizations and initiatives that carry out the same activities in this area, and expressed readiness to make efforts to establish this cooperation.
