Hakob Simidyan, Minister of Environment of the RA received Mr. George Sharvashidze, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Georgia to the Republic of Armenia.
After welcoming the Ambassador to the Ministry of Environment, the Minister spoke about the friendly and partnership relations between Armenia and Georgia, particularly highlighting the 14th session of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation recently held in Yerevan. During this session, he had the opportunity to meet with his counterpart from the neighboring country and discuss matters related to the development of environmental cooperation between the two countries.
During the meeting, the parties discussed a range of issues on the environmental agenda. The Minister touched upon the process of launching and staffing the Eco-Patrol Service of the Ministry of Environment of the RA and highlighted the importance of Georgia sharing its experience in nature conservation.
The alignment of environmental priorities in the water sector and the management system of specially protected nature areas was also discussed. An agreement was reached to further deepen cooperation in these areas as well.
