Aram Meymaryan, Deputy Minister of Environment of the RA, Received the Representatives of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO)

Aram Meymaryan, Deputy Minister of Environment of the RA, received the representatives of the first mission of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) to support and monitor the implementation of the “Forest resilience of Armenia, enhancing adaptation and rural green growth via mitigation” project.
Armen Yesoyan, Head of the Environmental Project Implementation Unit of the Ministry of Environment of the RA, and Sevak Markosyan, Director of the "Armforest" SNCO attended the meeting.
Before passing to the issues on the agenda of the meeting, the parties discussed the Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17), which will be hosted by the Republic of Armenia.
Aram Meymaryan accepted the congratulations of Raymond Yehle, Representative of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) office in the Republic of Armenia and informed that the Republic of Armenia approaches the hosting of the event with huge responsibility and that, by the Prime Minister's decision, a committee for organizing and holding the conference has already been established.

During the meeting, the “Forest resilience of Armenia, enhancing adaptation and rural green growth via mitigation” project jointly implemented by the Regional Office of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the Environmental Project Implementation Unit of the Ministry of Environment was discussed.
The grant for the implementation of the project was provided by the Green Climate Fund. The eight-year project launched in 2021. One of the goals of the project is to contribute to the 2.5 percent increase in forest cover in Armenia.
