The main functions of the department are:
organizing and ensuring the process of granting permits to export and import wild animals and zoological collections and individual specimens from the territory of the Republic of Armenia,
Organizing and ensuring the process of issuing permits to export and import botanical collections and individual specimens from the territory of the Republic of Armenia,
organization and provision of one-time license issuance process in case of export of wild animals and individual wild plants and herbal medicinal raw materials from wild plants,
Organization and provision of one-time export licenses in case of export of rare and endangered species of wild animals and plants included in the red books of EAEU member states,
Organizing and ensuring the process of issuing permits to export, import and re-export wild animals and plants, their parts and derivatives from the territory of the Republic of Armenia subject to regulation by the Convention "On International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora" (CITES),
organizing and ensuring the process of issuing permits for the use of fauna and flora objects, concluding contracts,
organization and provision of the process of granting permission to keep wild animals kept in free and semi-free conditions, including animals registered in the Red Book of the Republic of Armenia,
the organization and provision of the process of regulation of goods, reserved to the Ministry, prohibited by RA in case of trade with third countries
Creation, management of cadastres of wild animal and plant resources and provision of information on them in accordance with the procedure established by RA legislation
