Matti Eerikäinen, Head of the Expert Services Group of International Projects of the Finnish Meteorological Institute and Mrs. Sari Lappi, Coordinator of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) Regional Office for Europe, within the framework of the WMO Voluntary Cooperation Program (VCP), which aims to contribute to the development of the new structure of “Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center” SNCO of the Ministry of Environment of the RA.
Deputy Minister Tigran Gabrielyan had a meeting with the members of the WMO delegation.
Levon Azizyan, Director of "Armhydromet" SNCO and Valentina Grigoryan, Chief Advisor to the Director participated in the meeting.
After welcoming the guests, Deputy Minister noted that he attaches great importance to the structural optimization of "Armhydromet" SNCO, as it is the largest structure of the Ministry of Environment of the RA and carries out multifunctional activities, and also added that he highly values the improvement of specialized services of the SNCO.
Deputy Minister Tigran Gabrielyan noted that the Ministry has set a goal for the structure to work with modern technologies and methods, which will have an effective impact on the activities of the SNCO.
Tigran Gabrielyan hoped that the experts will present their conclusions and recommendations as soon as possible, both for the short-term and the long-term period, which will contribute to the effective distribution of resources of "Armhydromet" SNCO, making it consistent with the standards and strategy of the WMO.
Matti Eerikäinen, Head of the Expert Services Group of International Projects of the Finnish Meteorological Institute, noted that such an expert research was done by their organization for about 100 countries.
At the end of the meeting, an agreement was formed that WMO experts will present the necessary proposals for the structural optimization of "Armhydromet" SNCO, taking into account the proposals made by the SNCO until October 15.
