International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Europe, North and Central Asia Community meeting has started

The meeting of the Europe, North and Central Asia community of one of the largest environmental structures, the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN/IUCN) has started.
On October 16-18, for the first time in Armenia and in the world, the meeting of the Europe, North and Central Asia community of one of the largest environmental structures, the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) will take place.
The event gathered in Armenia dozens of guests from different countries, leading experts in the field of environmental protection, who will discuss IUCN goals and challenges for several days, as well as get acquainted with local representatives of the field.
The opening ceremony on October 16 was attended by Minister of Environment Hakob Simidyan, Deputy Minister Aram Meymaryan, Chairman of the Forestry Committee Vladimir Kirakosyan, Director of the European Regional Office of the IUCN Boris Erg, Co-Chairman of the Interregional Committee for Europe, North and Central Asia (ICENCA) of Chris Mahon, as well as as well as many local guests and industry representatives.
Minister of Environment Hakob Simidyan made an opening speech.
In his speech, the minister referred to the biodiversity of the Republic of Armenia and its importance for the environment of the country and the region.
"Armenia stands out for its rich biodiversity. The RA government, represented by the Ministry of Environment, together with international partners and non-governmental organizations, invests great efforts in its protection. the legislation promoting the sector is being improved, target programs are being implemented, protection is being strengthened, the minister noted, presenting digital data on biodiversity in Armenia and steps to protect it.
In his speech, the minister once again referred to the expansion of opportunities for cooperation with partners and the full realization of available resources.
Ruben Khachatryan, director of the Fund for the Conservation of Wildlife and Cultural Values (FPWC), and many other guests made speeches.
