Capacity Building Workshop for Officials of the Parties to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) Was Held

On October 16-29, a capacity building workshop for officials of the Parties to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) was held in the People's Republic of China.
Tatevik Kirakosyan, National Coordinator of the Convention on International Trade of Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora, Chief Specialist of the Bioresources Management Department of the Ministry of Environment, and Karen Hovhannisyan, Chief Specialist of the International Cooperation Department, participated in the workshop.
The general provisions of the CITES Convention, the issues of wildlife export and import, trade and conservation were discussed at the workshop.
Familiarization visits were organized to "Xiazhu" Lake National Wetland Park, where crested ibises are bred, "Anhui" Reserve, "Huizou" National Forest Park, during which the participants got introduced to the advanced Chinese experience in the field of wildlife protection and the implementation of the “CITES” Convention. 
In her speech, Tatevik Kirakosyan, National Coordinator of the Convention, thanked the organizers of the workshop, highlighting the opportunities for exchange of experience and cooperation between developing countries. "Biodiversity issues, conservation and wildlife trade know no borders and require joint efforts to achieve success," she said.
