Minister Hakob Simidyan received Mrs. Bergljot Hovland, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Norway to the Republic of Armenia
After welcoming the ambassador, the minister emphasized that the expansion and strengthening of international cooperation is one of the priority directions of the Ministry of Environment of the RA. The Ministry attaches great importance to the exchange of international experience in the process of implementing various environmental projects.
During the meeting, the minister presented to the ambassador the legislative reforms and current projects aimed at effective management of the sector.
In particular, the creation of the Eco-patrol service, the problems of forest restoration and protection were referenced.
Changes and reforms implemented in the Law of the RA "On Environmental Impact Assessment and Expertise", "Water Code of the RA", the Law of the RA "On Atmospheric Air Protection" were discussed.
A separate reference was made to the processes aimed at reducing the volume of use of single-use plastic products.
The minister also spoke with the ambassador about the involvement of the civil society in the process of environmental management, referring to the current works of re-opening the Aarhus offices.
The ambassador expressed her satisfaction with the inclusive approach.
The minister also discussed the "Crossroads of Peace" project with the ambassador.
At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed readiness to deepen cooperation in possible directions.
