Biodiversity restoration, and especially from the point of view of Lake Sevan ecosystem integrity, is one of the priority directions of the Ministry of Environment of the RA, and in 2024, a total of 387,300 small fish of Summer and Geharkuni subspecies were released into Lake Sevan.

"This is the most awaited achievement of the last years, for which a lot of effort was required and invested. And to the joy of all of us, I can say that it has been successful: within the framework of the program for the recovery of the Sevan khramulya (capoeta sevangi) stocks, we already have around 2,000 pieces of Sevan khramulya. As part of the measures aimed at the reproduction and restoration of resources of Sevan khramulya, we have also restored 4 outdoor basins," the Minister noted.
After the tour, Minister Hakob Simidyan had a meeting and discussion with the staff of the factory. The report titled "Complex Program for the Restoration of Trout Stocks in Lake Sevan: Preserving the Heritage" was presented and the implemented works and the identified problems were reported. Due to the continuous process of maintenance and replenishment of the stable parental stock, there are now about 105,000 pieces, with a total weight of 36,800 kg, of “Geharkuni” and “Summer” subspecies of Sevan trout parental stock.
