Hambardzum Matevosyan, Minister of Environment of the RA, met with Astrid Schomaker, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), in Manchester.
During the meeting, the parties discussed a range of organizational matters and current challenges related to COP17, as well as priority steps required to ensure an accurate assessment of the situation and the promotion of effective solutions.
“In order to make the implementation of decisions adopted at the conference more consistent and measurable, it is essential to review existing approaches and accelerate actions that deliver tangible results,” the Minister noted.
Minister Matevosyan also addressed matters related to Armenia’s presidency of COP17 and the organization of the ministerial segment, emphasizing the objective of holding high-level, substantive, and effective discussions with broad participation from international partners.
The parties further discussed available resources and support mechanisms to implement the commitments undertaken by the Republic of Armenia under the Convention, including technical assistance, capacity-building initiatives, and more targeted coordination of financial resources.
