Armenian-Russian Working Group Meeting Was Held

From June 9 to 10, the second meeting of the Armenian-Russian Working Group took place in Kislovodsk The second meeting of the Armenian-Russian Working Group took place in Kislovodsk.
The meeting was held within the framework of the 2024–2025 Program under the Memorandum of Cooperation in the field of environmental protection, signed between the Ministry of Environment of the RA and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of the RF. The event took place in Kislovodsk, Russian Federation.
The Armenian delegation consisted of Sergo Atanesyan, Secretary General of the Ministry of Environment of the RA; Murad Nurijanyan, Deputy Head of the Eco-Patrol Service; Artur Gharakeshishyan, Advisor to the Service; and representatives from relevant environmental departments.
The meeting focused on the exchange of bilateral experience and the strengthening of cooperation in key areas such as legislative policy, environmental control, biodiversity conservation, and other priority fields.
Sergo Atanesyan, Secretary General of the Ministry of Environment of the RA, delivered a speech.
In his speech, Sergo Atanesyan also presented the Ministry’s recently launched digital tree-planting platform, treeme.am, highlighting it as an innovative tool for public engagement in environmental initiatives.
As a symbolic gesture of continued and sustainable cooperation, a digital tree was planted through the platform.
During the meeting, the following topics were discussed:
Implementation of decisions adopted at the 2023 Jermuk meeting,
Legislative regulations on waste management,
Air pollution control mechanisms,
Best practices for water resource restoration,
Experience in biodiversity conservation and management of specially protected nature areas,
Program directions for future cooperation.
Murad Nurijanyan and Artur Gharakeshishyan, delivered reports outlining Armenia’s recent legislative developments in the field, along with experiences in implementing the Eco-Patrol Service and biodiversity conservation.
As a result of the discussions, a joint protocol was signed to formalize the agreements reached and outline the next steps.
The meeting also included a visit to the Kislovodsk National Park Visitor Center, focused on ecotourism and public awareness. Additionally, the venue and dates for the next meeting of the group were discussed.
