The annual meeting of Aarhus Centers was held in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan

The annual meeting organized by the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) focused on the role of the Aarhus Centers in promoting public participation in various issues related to environmental protection, dissemination of green economy principles and hazardous waste management.
 Among the representatives of Aarhus Centers from fourteen countries of the world, the RA delegation also participated in the meeting to discuss the role and active activity of Aarhus Centers in overcoming environmental challenges, to learn about the best practices, as well as to present the achievements in the field of environmental awareness and education, and the forms of effective public participation.
 During the meeting, agenda items were raised aimed at increasing the effectiveness of state-society-private sector cooperation in environmental decision-making, including through the use of digital tools.  The representatives of the countries participating in the meeting discussed the role of Aarhus Centers in promoting public participation in environmental decision-making, presented reports on the promotion of Green Economy principles, as well as the investments of Aarhus Centers in the management of hazardous and toxic waste.
 Silva Ayvazyan, the coordinator of the Aarhus Center of Yerevan, presented the activities of the office and the possibilities of realizing the potential of effective involvement of the public.  He presented the toolkit for ensuring communication between the state department and the public sector through the center and the issue of reactivating Aarhus centers in Armenia and clarifying their legal status.  He also referred to the government's policy of digitization of information and participation processes.
 The participants of the workshop visited the Nurek hydroelectric power station, the highest in the world with a charge dam, to learn about the work of the station and the potential of renewable energy in Tajikistan.  Here, around 96% of domestic electricity is provided by hydropower.
