A ministerial conference was held in Abu Dhabi ahead of COP 28

At the invitation of the United Arab Emirates special envoy for climate issues, COP 28 President Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, from October 30 to 31 this year, Deputy Minister of Environment Aram Meymaryan participated in the 28th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in Abu Dhabi ahead of the organized ministerial conference.
The objective of the meeting was to accelerate and strengthen, scale up and clarify actions and financial support for mitigation and adaptation to climate change, taking into account the large-scale adverse effects of climate change and the associated losses and damages to people and nature.
The meeting was held in the format of round table discussions, parallel thematic and sectoral discussions, bilateral meetings.
The Deputy Minister of Environment participated in the high-level ministerial meeting on "Building a new framework for climate financing", had bilateral meetings with the heads of the delegations of the United States of America, Sweden, Bulgaria, Slovenia, the Secretary General of the Framework Convention on Climate Change, as well as the coordinator of the Eastern Europe regional group.
Prospects for the development of the sector, new opportunities for cooperation and issues related to the hosting of COP29 in 2024 were discussed.
