A consultation ahead of the nationwide tree planting at the Ministry of Environment

Chaired by Minister of Environment Romanos Petrosyan, a consultation-discussion was held with governors, officers of the regional administrations, deputy mayors of Yerevan, in which the Chairman of the Committee of Forest of the Ministry of Environment and the Director of "ArmForest" SNCO participated.
A number of agenda issues on the proper organization of the nationwide tree planting in the regions and in Yerevan were discussed, all the areas where tree planting will be carried out were inventoried, and issues regarding the equal distribution of human and technical resources were discussed.
Welcoming those present, the Minister first presented the current situation of  "10 million trees" initiative, then referred to the nationwide tree planting envisaged on April 25 within the framework of that initiative, urging colleagues to do their utmost to supervise tree planting activities as effectively as possible.
During the nationwide tree planting it is planned:
 Allocation of 100.000 saplings, including wild apples, pears, walnuts, to Yerevan Municipality, major cities and communities of the republic to plant trees in parks and gardens.
To provide 200.000 saplings to the regional administrations for planting in the areas designated in the nurseries of "ArmForest" SNCO colloborating with the local self-government bodies and state agencies.
Acting  Chairman of the Committee of Forest of the Ministry of Environment A. Petrosyan presented the planned distribution of planting material by regions.
Yerevan – 25.000
Aragatsotn region - 7000,
Arart region - 7000,
Armavir region - 6000,
Gegharkunik region - 8000,
Kotayk region – 10.000,
Lori region-7000,
Shirak region – 10.000,
Syunik region - 7000,
Tavush region - 6000,
Vayots Dzor region - 7000.

Acting Director of "ArmForest" SNCO P. Tsugunyan presented the species of trees to be planted - oak, ash, maple, walnut, apple - and the areas designated for planting according to hectares. He briefed that the specialists of the SNCO are willingly to assist with advice on tree planting.
 The issues with reference to the further care of planted trees were considered.
The Minister asked the partners to properly inform the public about the places of tree planting, the ways of participation, providing the contacts of the community forest planting coordinators.
