The 18th Political Consultative Forum of the Seoul Initiative on Green Growth was held in the capital of South Korea from October 25 to 27, where the Ministry of Environment participated at the invitation of the United Nations Commission on Economic and Social Affairs for Asia and the Pacific, as well as the Korean Ministry of Environment. Head of Climate Policy Department Nona Budoyan and Head of Strategic Policy Department Lusine Avetisyan.
The meeting was aimed at identifying and expanding new opportunities for cooperation in order to accelerate climate action, exchange views and experience, where Nona Budoyan presented Armenia's vision of achieving carbon neutrality.
The development of long-term strategies by countries to achieve carbon neutrality is provided for in Article 4 of the Paris Agreement, which states that countries party to the Framework Convention on Climate Change must endeavor to formulate and present a long-term strategy for low-GHG emission development, taking into account their common, but differentiated responsibility and related capabilities.
In the long term, the Armenian government aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to 2.07 t CO2 equivalent per capita by 2050.
