Today is World Environment Day

In 1972, June 5 was declared as the World Environment Day by the United Nations, and since 2004 it has been celebrated in Armenia as the Day of Environmentalists.
It is celebrated every year and is a means for all environmentalists and environmental organizations to focus the attention of the international community on environmental issues, as well as to stimulate political interest in the relevant actions for environmental protection.
According to the UN Convention to Combat Desertification, up to 40% of Earth's land is degraded, which directly affects the quality of life of Earth's population. The number and duration of droughts has increased by 29% since 2000, and without urgent interventions, droughts could affect three-quarters of the world's population by 2050.
Land restoration is a key pillar of the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration (2021-2030), a rallying call for the protection and revival of ecosystems all around the world, which is critical to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
That is why, on World Environment Day 2024, the world is focusing on land restoration, desertification and building drought resilience under the slogan “Our Land. Our Future. We are #GenerationRestoration".
We can't turn back time, but we can plant forests, use water efficiently and restore lands.
We are the generation that can make peace with the Earth.
Congratulations on the day.
First of all, being an environmentalist is not a profession, but a title.
The nature of Armenia is our common wealth, and taking care of it is the responsibility of each of us.
Conserve nature! Be in harmony with nature!
