The results of 17 years were summed up and the ecological status of the bearded vulture in Armenia was assessed

The "Brdlinks Armenia" NGO together with the state reserve "Khosrov Forest", the National Park "Dilijan", the National Park "Arevik" and the biosphere complex "Zangezur" summed up the results of 17 years and assessed the ecological status of the bearded vulture in Armenia.
The last update of the ecological status of the bearded vulture in Armenia (Gypaetus barbatus, Linnaeus, 1758) was adopted in 2009 for the corresponding edition of the Red Book of Animals of Armenia (2010), using data collected in 2003-2008:
Now, over a decade later, the update is available for this type of ecological status, using data collected between 2009 and 2019.
The results show that the population of this species is now 11-12 breeding pairs and there has been a slight increase in the population.
Current threats are related to direct persecution, preparation of cartilage or its storage in captivity.
Recommended conservation measures include:
change of rules for scarecrows and birds in captivity, in particular the requirement for inventory of all existing scarecrow specimens, introduction of a mandatory procedure for the issuance of a certificate of origin for each new specimen, increased penalties for poaching or trapping, strengthen the inspection body to improve control, improving public awareness to increase this type of activity across the country, Improving waste management.
These measures should be accompanied by monitoring of these species. The article "The status of the bearded vulture Gypaetus barbatus in Armenia" was published in Bird Census News 2020, 32 / 1–2. In 11–16 magazines.
