Ahead of the nationwide tree planting envisaged on April 25, Minister of Environment Romanos Petrosyan held a working meeting-discussion, which was attended by Artur Petrosyan, Acting Chairman of the Committee of Forest of the Ministry of Environment, Pavel Tsugunyan, Acting Director of “ArmForest” SNCO, Advisers to the Minister.
The necessary steps and toolkit to properly accomplish tree planting were discussed.
Acting Director of "ArmForest" SNCO Pavel Tsugunyan reported to the Minister about the activities scheduled for the nationwide tree planting.
To allocate 100.000 saplings, including wild apples, pears, walnuts, to Yerevan Municipality, major cities and communities of the republic to plant trees in parks and gardens.
To provide 200.000 saplings to the regional administrations for planting in the areas designated in the plantations of "ArmForest" SNCO in collaboration with the local self-government bodies and state agencies.
The Minister instructed to pay special attention to the mapping of forest areas with relevant characteristics for tree planting: soil quality, precipitations and etc., as well as to be consistent in accurately organizing the supply of planting material.
"This is an unprecedented tree planting for its scale, our collective efforts should be even more active. Armenia is outlining its green future with the initiative of "10 million trees", we must overcome this challenge with honor'': the Minister concluded the working meeting.
Also, interdepartmental meetings are meant for the organizational work of the nationwide tree planting supervised in the frames of "10 million trees" initiative.
