The message of Minister of Environment Romanos Petrosyan on the occasion of Day of Meteorologist - March 23

It is already 71 years that the entire hydrometeorological  community celebrates his professional holiday - World Meteorological Day, and in our republic it is the seventeenth times to mark it as Day of Meteorologist.
The theme of World Meteorological Day 2021 is “The Ocean, Our Climate and Weather” with a focus  on connecting the ocean, climate and weather within the Earth System.
The ocean is the major driver of the global weather and climate, as it streamlines the climate, gives energy, as well as it produces oxygen. It is also instrumental in climate change. Global climate change has a direct impact on the ocean, which has a negative impact on water acidification, flora and fauna.
It should be noted that nowadays the framework of socio-economic impact of climate change has expanded, including various spheres: food security, healthcare, agriculture.
The climate-friendly, water-saving behaviors are becoming more and more crucial as long-term climate change increases the intensity and frequency of extreme events, leading to sea level rising and ocean acidification.
Attaching importance to the theme of the day, I would like to once again value the role of the Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center in our country in climate change decision-making processes, one of the main priorities of which is the protection of life, livelihood and property from risks regarding weather, climate and water events.
Congratulating you on your professional holiday, I extend a vote of thanks to the staff of “Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center” SNCO for their high professional qualities, willingness and dedication. I wish you new professional achievements, robust health and fruitful activity.
