The extinct type of flower registered in the Red Book is for sale on the streets of the capital

The "yellow snowdrop", the flower named Sternbergia Fischer registered in the Red Book of the Republic of Armenia, is being sold again in the streets of the capital.

 REMINDER

 A fine is established by the RA law for the destruction or collection of plants registered in the Red Book.  In particular, the fine for each unit (piece) of Sternbergia Fischer plant in critical condition is 25,000 AMD, and in case of exceeding 200,000 AMD, it is possible to establish criminal liability.

 CR B 1 ab (i, ii, iii, iv) + 2 ab (i, ii, iii, iv)

 Critically endangered species.  It is known only from one habitat of Zangezur floristic region.  Area of distribution and residential areas 10 sq.m.  is less than km.

 The first edition of the Red Book of Armenia was listed as extinct.  Included in Annex 2 to the CITES Convention.  Not included in the annexes to the Berne Conventions.

 Description:

 Perennial bulbous plant is 10-15 cm high.  Onions round, 2.5-3.5 cm in diameter, covered with brown or black scales.  The leaves are belt-like, flat, shiny, dark green, with a blunt apex, at the base, barely vertebrate, up to 20 cm long.  Flowers are bright yellow, sessile or short, up to 5 mm long.  with cotton.  Capsule 10-15 mm in diameter, oblong-elliptical.  Seed with seed coat.

 Spread

 In Armenia it is found only in Zangezur floristic region, near Nerkin Vachagan village.

 Grows in the lower mountain belt, at the heights of 600-800 m.  dry rocky, grassy, forest slopes, shibliak.  Flowering from February to March, fruiting from May.  The flowers appear in early spring together with the leaves.
