Ahead of the International Day for Biodiversity, as part of the 'Biodiversity Week in Armenia' events, the initiative to establish the COP17 Forest has officially been launched on the premises of the Aragatsotn Forestry Branch of the “Armforest” SNCO under the Ministry of Environment.
This initiative aims to convey a significant message to the international community, underscoring Armenia’s commitment to nature conservation and biodiversity restoration. The forest has been established as a symbol of the COP17 Conference of the UN Convention on Biological Diversity, which will take place in Armenia in 2026.
Through this initiative, the Republic of Armenia demonstrates its consistent commitment to fulfilling obligations undertaken on international environmental platforms through concrete, practical actions on the spot. Each tree planted in this forest symbolizes our collective responsibility and shared goal: to support biodiversity restoration, combat climate change, and foster a greener, more sustainable future. Hakob Simidyan, Minister of Environment of the RA, Deputy Ministers, ministry staff, and heads of subordinate SNCOs attended the tree-planting. The COP17 Forest will serve not only as a symbolic space but also as a lasting green legacy for future generations.
