ARK Ecological NGO, which won the grant within the framework of the 3-rd stage of the SPPA-A Small Grants Component (SGC), had implemented “Tatev-Khustup Sustainable Development Trail” project, the main goal of which was to raise the level of environmental awareness in Kapan community, to develop an environmental mindset through non-formal education in the infrastructures established along Tatev-Khustup eco-tourism trail.
The following results were recorded within the project scopes:
A network of 1000 meters of trails was created in the nature of Vahanavank and in the gorge of art, where 35 thematic posters on endemic flora and fauna were created, 20 works of art (land art), 10 benches in the land-art style, and 2 bridges were built over the river flowing in the gorge. A signboard was installed at the entrance to the gorge.
A cascade of 10 lakes with a total capacity of 120 m was established on Poqr River nearby Dzorastan village.
A water-absorbing trench with a total length of 50 meters was created in the permaculture base of Dzorastan. A signboard on the cascade of ponds and water-absorbing trenches was installed.
Educational programs on eco-tourism, permaculture and eco-construction and the nature of Vahanavank and the gorge of art, 10-minute video tours (3 pcs.) have been created, respectively on eco-tourism and eco-construction, the nature of Vahanavank and the gorge of art, permaculture, in particular on Dzorastan permaculture base.
7 online excursions were organized, in which 300 schoolchildren participated.
400 eco-bags have been made, which will help to reduce the use of plastic bags.
