The “Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center” SNCO Officially Joined the South-Eastern Europe Multi-Hazard Early Warning Advisory System

The “Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center” SNCO of the Ministry of Environment of the RA officially joined the South-East European Multi-Hazard Early Warning Advisory System (SEE-MHEWS-A), which unites the national hydrometeorological services of 20 countries.
Armenia’s membership became possible through the unanimous agreement of all member states of the system, reflecting a high level of regional trust and cooperation.
The system operates under the leadership of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and with the scientific and technical support of the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF). The WMO coordinates cooperation and capacity-building among participating countries, ensuring strategic management and program coordination at the regional level.
Armenia’s membership in the SEE-MHEWS-A system represents a significant step towards strengthening the country’s resilience to climate risks and natural hazards.
The system enables “Armhydromet” to apply advanced numerical forecasting models, participate in regional training programs and joint initiatives, and adopt harmonized approaches in forecasting and early warning of hazardous hydrometeorological phenomena.
This membership is of strategic importance for Armenia, as it opens new opportunities for international cooperation, knowledge exchange, and the development of hydrometeorological services in line with the global “Early Warnings for All” (EW4ALL) initiative.
