The Day of Specially Protected Nature Areas Was Marked by the Release of Caucasian Red Deer into Nature

Since 2021, by the decision of the Government, September 13 is celebrated as the Day of Specially Protected Nature Areas in Armenia.
As part of the meeting of the day, within the scope of the project “Reintroduction of Caucasian Red Deer to Armenia”, the second group of red deer (10 individuals) bred in “Dilijan” National Park was released into the wild.
Ara Mkrtchyan, Deputy Minister of Environment, Tigran Gabrielyan, Deputy Minister of Environment, Vladimir Kirakosyan, Head of the Eco-Patrol Service, Hayk Ghalumyan, Governor of Tavush Region, Levon Aghasyan, Director of WWF-Armenia, representatives of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in the RA, Directors of SNCOs under the Ministry of Environment and representatives of international organizations attended the event. 
In his speech, Deputy Minister Ara Mkrtchyan noted the importance of restoring biodiversity.
"As in the whole world, as well as in Armenia, restoring the disturbed balance of biodiversity is our top priority, and today's event is one of the steps towards achieving it. Biodiversity is a natural heritage that needs to be preserved and passed on to future generations. I urge you to refrain from illegal activities and preserve the animal world of Armenia. We are all responsible for the protection of the animals that are registered in the Red Book of Animals of the RA. We have to show a conscious and compassionate behavior when interacting with nature."
Since 2013, the program "Reintroduction of Caucasian Red Deer to Armenia" has been implemented by the Ministry of Environment of the RA and the Armenian branch of the World Wide Fund (WWF-Armenia), with the support of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), KfW Development Bank, WWF Germany, the Caucasus Nature Fund (CNF)
2022 In October, 3 deer were released in the territory of "Dilijan" National Park as a test group.
There are currently 44 deer at the center, 10 of which will be released into the wild as part of this event.
In the future, it is planned to release 5-10 individuals into nature every year.
