Hambardzum Matevosyan, Minister of Environment of the RA, participated in the "One Health: The Only Healthy Future for People, Animals and Ecosystems" high-level session in Abu Dhabi.
The conference brought together leaders from governments, UN agencies, financial institutions, and civil society to jointly advance the One Health principle within the framework of global environmental policy and action.
In his speech, the Minister presented how Armenia applies this approach at the state policy and institutional levels.
“We are confident that human health is inseparable from the health of nature. That is why our National Health Security Strategy (2023–2026) is based on this very principle, ensuring interagency cooperation between the health and environmental sectors.
At the same time, the Ministry of Environment of the RA, also includes the One Health principle in biodiversity and climate policy.
And our NDC 3.0 document, under the Paris Agreement, links climate adaptation with the prevention of health risks," the Minister noted.
The Minister also emphasized that the upcoming COP17 in Yerevan will provide a unique opportunity to further advance the One Health approach and jointly develop new initiatives with international partners.
“I am confident that when science, policy, and public participation move forward together, we can shape a truly healthy future for people, animals, and nature,” concluded Minister Hambardzum Matevosyan.
