Environment Minister Hakob Simidyan had a meeting with the Deputy President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the President of the Environmental Protection Organization of Iran, Ali Salajeghe.
The meeting, which was the second in number, took place within the framework of the visit to Iran to participate in the international conference aimed at combating sand and dust storms.
At the beginning of the meeting, Minister Hakob Simidyan thanked for the hospitality and emphasized the close relations of the two friendly countries and peoples in the region, as well as the unification of efforts aimed at solving environmental problems.
Reference was made to the issues of ensuring environmental rights in the Araks river basin and cooperation with the Iranian side. The parties stated that in order to solve the problems of monitoring and maintaining the water quality of the Araks River, it is necessary to cooperate more actively, to carry out mutual visits, observations and joint events.
In this direction, the two sides see a very large field of cooperation, and for this purpose Minister Simidyan invited Ali Salajeghe to Armenia.
RA's willingness to cooperate with Iran in promoting the global environmental agenda was reaffirmed.
