Minister Hmabardzum Matevosyan Received Marieke Monroy-Winter, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Armenia

Hmabardzum Matevosyan, Minister of Environment of the RA, received Marieke Monroy-Winter, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Armenia.
Minister Matevosyan expressed his gratitude to the Ambassador for the continuous attention given to Armenia’s environmental agenda, emphasizing that the Netherlands’ expertise in this field is invaluable, and that the transfer of this knowledge plays an important role in the programmes implemented in Armenia.
During the meeting, the parties addressed a number of areas of mutual interest, in particular:
the effective management of water resources, ranging from water quality monitoring to the introduction of innovative solutions in the context of climate challenges,
issues related to waste sorting and recycling.
In this context, Minister Matevosyan presented the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) system, which will soon be introduced in Armenia.
The process of digitalizing environmental services was also discussed. The Minister informed that state environmental services are now fully available online. Hambardzum Matevosyan presented the recent legislative reforms aimed at making environmental policy more modern and aligned with international standards.
At the conclusion of the meeting, special attention was given to the 17th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD COP17), with discussions focusing on new opportunities for cooperation with international partners.
