Minister Hambardzum Matevosyan Meets with Jessika Roswall, EU Commissioner for Environment, Water Resilience and a Competitive Circular Economy

Within the framework of the 7th session of the UN Environment Assembly (UNEA-7), Hambardzum Matevosyan, Minister of Environment of the RA, met with Jessika Roswall, EU Commissioner for Environment, Water Resilience and a Competitive Circular Economy.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the implementation of the agreements reached following their consultations held in New York in September, highlighting areas that require additional efforts and coordination.
They emphasized the continuity of cooperation, particularly in promoting joint initiatives in the fields of environmental protection, effective water resource management, and the sustainability agenda.
Special attention was paid to the organizational process of COP17. The discussion covered the main stages of the preparatory work, key priorities, and the mechanisms needed to ensure an efficient, transparent, and well-coordinated process.
Minister Matevosyan presented Armenia’s vision for conducting the preparatory work for COP17 with broad partner engagement, a clear working agenda, and strict adherence to the established timeline.
The parties reaffirmed Armenia’s readiness to continue active dialogue and cooperation, turn the agreements reached into concrete actions, and strengthen joint efforts toward environmental protection, sustainable development, and responsible natural resource management.
